What does the Bible say about who Jesus is?

The Bible names Jesus as God in plain words. Our October 25 sermon walked through these passages:

• He is the Creator. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:1-3)
• He became a man. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
• He is the Almighty. "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Revelation 1:8)

Did Jesus claim to be equal with God?

Yes, and His enemies understood it. "But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God." (John 5:17-18)

How did God confirm who Jesus is?

"Jesus is my Savior. Jesus is my Lord. Jesus is my best friend. Jesus is the one that died for me."

Jesus said that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father (John 5:23). Knowing who He is leads to the most important question: will you trust Him?
